You're probably asking yourself, what the hell is hygge and how do I pronounce it?  Hygge (hoo-ga) comes from a Danish word being wellbeing.  It incorporates a number of different things: coziness, togetherness, happiness.  The art of hygge is definitely an introverts dream, trust me, being a high-functioning introvert myself, hygge is amazing.  Who wouldn't want to spend an afternoon curled up in front of a window with a book and cup of tea or snuggled up with your partner in crime, watching a movie, and eating heavy foods like cake, artisan breads, and stew?!

In Meik Wiking's book, The Little Book of Hygge, Meik explains in detail how to live the hygge lifestyle and how you can incorporate it into your life.  Do you like candles, books, games, tea, knit blankets, wool socks, chocolate, cake, and fireplaces?  If you answered yes to any or all of these, you're going to LOVE hygge.  As we read together, slowly incorporate hygge to your daily routine.  Keep a journal and track what you did and how it made you feel.  As you journal, keep these questions in mind:

  • What does hygge mean to me?
  • How can I make hygge part of my daily routine?
  • What are my favorite aspects of hygge?
  • How did hygge make me or my loved ones feel?

We are so excited for you to join us in exploring what it means to hygge.  Are you in?  What part of hygge are you most excited about?!

xoxo
